If you are one of the millions who celebrated this past Thanksgiving Holiday, you probably over ate or drank. While we may feel good in the moment, the next day the reality hits. “I’ve gone off plan.” You may guilt and doubt you can get back on track. You may feel a lack of energy to help keep your resolve.
We all work hard to stick to our calorie recommendations, log our food and keep up with our plan to get healthy. Quite often when we celebrate sport victories, birthday parties, holidays, we over eat or drink. If you feel you over did the calories over the weekend, dont stress about it. Get back on track today.
The most important thing you can do is remember that today is a new day. You’ve got a new chance to stick to your plan. Yesterday is in the past and you can’t change what you did then, but you can sure control what you do today
The day after a slip up try to get started with an invigorating and nutrient packed smoothie. You’ll get an energy boost and the ingredients could help you feel less bloated and ready to go. Even if it’s not in the morning it can help you anytime of the day. What to try Shakeology, the healthiest meal of the day? I have been drinking it for 10 years.
Drink your water! Making sure you get enough water is a great way to tackle that bloated feeling you may have from your indulgence
Clothing can make or break how you feel. If you look good, you feel good. Focus on your clothes if you’ve had a “fat” day. Don’t think about the outfit you can’t fit into – think about the one you love right now that defines your shape and makes you feel like a million bucks. You can keep the dream of that smaller sized outfit as a new goal to reach for.
Get a good night’s sleep. Research is showing that a good night’s sleep is key to maintaining good health. You’ll wake up refreshed and ready to tackle a new day.
Download a new workout list. There’s nothing like some motivating tunes to lift your mood and even help you push an extra few minutes in your workout.
Find some quiet time to focus. Whether it is meditation, yoga, mindful thinking, prayer or simply some quiet time, this time focused on you and your mental well being is key towards changing your mood and feeling positive.
Hit your reset button. It’s as simple as reminding yourself you are in control. Perhaps setting a non food related reward for yourself will help you get back into your groove.
All these things are just simple ways to take control and back on track. You are strong and motivated to stick to your healthy lifestyle program. Change won’t happen overnight, but it will happen if you stick with it over time – the journey to better health is tackled one day at a time!
